what's funny is that "just fine" really means "passable"

driving home.

it's not as cold as it should be.

it's that time of day when the sun gets all hard and slanty and orange.

stop and go traffic and that fits your mood just fine because what you want to do is focus on that little bit of space between you and the anonymous bumper ahead of you. traffic like this is good.

the radio is turned up loud. the song is some huge wall of sound kind of bubble that wraps you up and distances the world beyond your little mobile space perfectly. no vocal, just noisenoisenoise like if you were standing much too close to an overloud speaker in a club. it's almost buzzing and that is just fine as well.

what you focus on is that space between your bumper and the one ahead of you and how the world might as well not even exist beyond that little changable piece of space. you can't hear other cars, can't see beyond your lane and the nondescript vehicles surrounding you.

this is the world and you wish it would keep going like this forever because this is just fine.
